FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Senate Vote to Acquit President Trump of Both Articles of Impeachment

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the Senate’s votes to acquit President Trump of both articles of impeachment, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks’ President, commented:

“Today’s vote to acquit President Donald Trump on both articles of impeachment brought the conclusion that we’ve expected and championed since September. Finally, this sad chapter of the 116th Congress is over. It’s bad enough that congressional Democrats have focused on a socialist agenda, but they have delegitimized impeachment and further divided the nation by seeking to overturn the results of the 2016 presidential election. America deserves better than what it has been subjected to over the past several months.

“We are disheartened that Sen. Romney, the sole Republican who voted to convict, chose to side with leftists against President Trump and undermine the original intent of the Constitution. FreedomWorks’ activist community won’t soon forget his treachery.”

In the past month, nearly 200 FreedomWorks activists made more than 274 House and Senate office visits urging members to vote against impeachment and for President Trump’s acquittal. At the same time and for the same reason, our nationwide grassroots community drove more than 1,200,000 messages to their elected representatives in Washington.
