FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Speaker Pelosi’s Extension of Proxy Voting

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to Speaker Pelosi extending proxy voting to June 28, 2022, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“Speaker Pelosi is once again extending proxy voting despite the fact that everyone but the Fauci regime has moved on from the COVID-19 pandemic. Using President Biden’s ‘public health emergency’ as an excuse to not show up to the House Floor to vote is inexcusable. If Members can attend events, campaign rallies, and fundraisers, they can show up in-person to vote.”

“House Republicans should pledge to the American people that they will stop voting by proxy. There must be a clear distinction on where House Republicans and House Democrats stand on this constitutionally questionable practice.”

“Any Republican who votes by proxy from here on out will be ineligible to receive FreedomWorks’ 2022 Freedom Fighter award, which recognizes Members of the House and Senate who consistently vote to support economic freedom and individual liberty.”
