FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Trump Administration’s Move to Initiate Organ Procurement Organization Reform

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the Trump Administration’s recent decision to proceed with a rules change that will initiate much needed organ procurement organization (OPO) reform, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks’ president, commented:

“This decision by the Trump administration to proceed with OPO reform is a step in the right direction for both patients and taxpayers alike. Such reform will drastically cut down on organ donation waitlists and save billions in tax dollars by breaking down the government-granted monopoly on organ procurement. Most importantly, this proposal will also save thousands of lives.

“Healthcare is consistently one of the most important issues to Americans, and this proposal by the Trump administration will go a long way towards making our system more efficient for patients. At the same time, this is one of the few issues that enjoys widespread bipartisan support. FreedomWorks looks forward to supporting the Trump administration’s rulemaking with regards to OPO reform.”
