ICYMI: FreedomWorks Hosts ‘Building Education for Students Together’ Webinar With Congressman Byron Donalds
WASHINGTON, D.C. — As part of our celebration of National School Choice Week, FreedomWorks hosted a webinar yesterday with panelists including newly elected Congressman Byron Donalds (R-Fla.). Panelists discussed how expanding access to school choice can empower families and teachers to provide all students with a high quality education regardless of zip code or background.
Congressman Byron Donalds commented:
“I firmly reject the bureaucratic notion that the ZIP Code you grow up in should determine a child’s future. School choice not only empowers poor, minority, and disabled students and their families, it also allows parents and caregivers the opportunity to choose what is best for their child’s educational needs, not the government. Forcing students to remain in a perpetually failing school hinders academic success and restricts educational freedom. That is why I am committed to supporting legislation that promotes school choice and initiatives that allow every American the opportunity to succeed."
Laura Zorc, FreedomWorks Senior Advisor of Education Policy Reform and Parent Led Advocacy, commented:
“School choice is an issue that all Americans should be able to get behind in order to ensure more opportunity for students. FreedomWorks is proud to lead the charge this National School Choice Week in highlighting this important issue, especially during a time of widespread closures and inefficient remote learning.
