MEDIA ADVISORY: FreedomWorks Hosts “We the People” H.R. 1 Virtual Press Conference, Today at 10:00 AM ET
WASHINGTON, D.C. — As part of “We the People Week” in opposition to H.R. 1 FreedomWorks Senior Fellow Rev. C.L. Bryant, along with leading black conservatives, will host a press conference in opposition to the passage of H.R. 1/S. 1. Each speaker brings lived experiences of the legacy of Jim Crow and fervently opposes Democrats’ recent rhetoric surrounding the sweeping piece of legislation.
C.L. Bryant commented:
“I lived through the Civil Rights Movement. Like many other black conservatives, I have dedicated my life to the struggle for equality here in America. For Democrats to say that H.R. 1 is akin to the civil rights movement in truth cheapens the horrible injustices that black Americans have endured in our nation’s past throughout the fight for equal liberty and representation."
“Polls show that the majority of black Americans think that photo ID laws are common sense. Black Americans want a fair process–they know when they are being pandered to. Claims that voter ID laws are ‘racist’ are infantilizing at best.”
