Rep. David Schweikert Signs FreedomWorks’ Pro-Growth Pledge

FreedomWorks today announced that Rep. David Schweikert (R-Ariz.) signed the Pro-Growth Pledge. The pledge is a statement of principles showing the signer’s commitment to economic growth through fundamental tax reform, reductions in spending, regulatory reform, sound money, energy freedom, and patient-centered health care. Rep. Schweikert joins Reps. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), Dave Brat (R-Va.), Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), and Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) as signers. The full text of FreedomWorks’ Pro-Growth Pledge is available here.

“FreedomWorks has been a vital partner in the fight for limited government and economic freedom,” said Rep. David Schweikert (R-Ariz.). “Our work is cut out for us, but as we keep educating Americans on the power of markets, as described in the Pro-Growth Pledge, and the Constitution, I’m confident the message of liberty will prevail.”

Rep. Schweikert signed the Pro-Growth Pledge Saturday at FreedomFest in Las Vegas, Nevada. FreedomWorks CEO Adam Brandon praised Rep. Schweikert for his work to reduce spending and fight the regulatory state.

“Rep. Schweikert is one of a key group of House conservatives who understands the very serious budget challenges that face our country. Recently, he gave a speech on the House floor in which he talked about the long-term budget issues, noting that the problem isn’t limited to discretionary spending. The elephant in the room is entitlement programs. As he explained at the time, Congress doesn’t have long to act to solve this looming fiscal crisis, which is being driven by Washington’s profligacy,” said FreedomWorks CEO Adam Brandon. “In addition to his work on fiscal issues, Rep. Schweikert has fought to take back the powers the executive branch has irresponsibly claimed and restore Congress’ constitutional role as the sole lawmaking branch of the federal government.”

“Rep. Schweikert is only reaffirming what he has worked on in Congress by FreedomWorks’ Pro-Growth Pledge, and we thank him for his great leadership as a fighter for economic freedom in the House,” Brandon added.
