Texas 2000 PAC and the Constitutional Defense Fund Exposed

The Dallas Morning News published an article in the August 23rd edition entitled “Trial lawyers accused of donation deceit PAC names called vague; group denies impropriety,” which highlights the funding of the Texas 2000 PAC and Constitutional Defense Fund.

According to the Quorum Report article of August 22nd entitled “Tobacco lawyer money funds 2 PACS to tune of $1.95 million,” Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse revealed that four tobacco lawyers John Eddie Williams, Walter Umphrey, Wayne Reaud and Harold Nix each contributed $200,000 to the Texas 2000 PAC which is operated by the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. Reaud, Williams, and John O’Quinn also contributed $100,000 each to the Constitutional Defense Fund.
