Marty Irby

Marty Irby is the Chief Operating Officer at FreedomWorks. He brings a deep passion for developing competitive free markets by bringing transparency and reform to Washington, D.C.’s stifling overregulation and cutting federal spending by identifying and eliminating specific portions of the massive federal waste that continues to plague the American taxpayer.

Irby served in the U.S. House of Representatives as Press Secretary, Communications Director, and Policy Advisor for U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield, R-Ky. He completed a Congressional Fellowship with The Heritage Foundation, attended Wesley Theological Seminary, and was recognized by President Donald J. Trump on national television in the Oval Office at the signing of the PACT Act in 2019.

Born and raised in Mobile, Ala., Irby graduated from the University of South Alabama with a B.A. in Communication and served as both the Chairman of the Mobile County Young Republicans, and Member of the Mobile County Republican Executive Committee. He worked on several successful U.S. House, Senate, and Gubernatorial campaigns in the early 2000’s and has since worked to elect U.S. Sens. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., Ted Budd, R-N.C., John Kennedy, R-La., Mike Lee, R-Utah, and Rand Paul, R-Ky. to the U.S. Senate as well as U.S. Reps. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., and Buddy Carter, R-Ga., to name a few.

Irby was named one of The Hill’s Top Lobbyists for 2019, 2020, and 2021 and currently serves in his spare time as a volunteer on the board of directors and as board secretary at the Organization for Competitive Markets based in Lincoln, Neb. He resides on Capitol Hill with his King Charles Cavalier Spaniel “Spencer.”
