Each week shows increased job loss, victims of the virus, and emotional health problems. FreedomWorks activists are, sadly, not immune to the devastation inflicted by Coronavirus.

Welcome to FreedomWorks Foundation’s seventh regulatory review of 2020! Our Regulatory Action Center proudly updates you with the latest regulatory actions from the swamp. This week, we bring you a special coronavirus edition, highlighting some of the government regulations that have been repealed to fight the pandemic. Check back next week for the next edition.

Very many people reacted with confusion when teen climate activist, Greta Thunberg, was named to a CNN expert panel on coronavirus. Greta has never claimed to be an expert on epidemiology or virology. Neither, for that matter, is she an expert on any political topic as she is still a teenager. Her claim to fame is lecturing the world on the supposed inadequacy of its response to climate change. It’s subtle, but this is why it should come as a surprise to no one that the corporate press is once again dragging Greta to the limelight to talk about this pandemic.

For decades, our nation has been over-incarcerating individuals who run afoul of the law in a number of different ways. Oftentimes, the things that individuals run afoul of and are incarcerated for should either not be criminal laws at all, or should not be punished criminally to the degree that they are.

As both the federal and states’ governments wrestle with what policies to use in addressing the coronavirus outbreak moving into the summer and beyond, one potential solution that has been touted as a key component of getting life here back to something like normal is “contact tracing.” In particular, governments and tech companies alike have become interested in digital solutions to track the spread of the virus in order to better contain it. However, depending upon how it is done, there are a number of concerns with how contact tracing - whether done in person or digitally - interacts with our basic rights to due process and civil liberties.
