Coronavirus and Criminal Justice Reform: How and Why to Be Smart on Crime During a Public Health Crisis

For decades, our nation has been over-incarcerating individuals who run afoul of the law in a number of different ways. Democrats' Plans for More Spending Could Mean a Lost Decade for America

House and Senate Democrats are preparing to release another very costly legislative response to COVID-19. No cost estimate is available quite yet, but we know that it’s likely to rival the $2.3 trillion cost of the Phase III bill, the CARES Act, which passed Congress in March. Support the Coronavirus Public Safety and Economic Recovery Act, H.R. 6664

On behalf of our activist community, I urge you to contact your representative and ask him or her to support the Coronavirus Public Safety and Economic Recovery Act, H.R. 6664. Introduced by Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), the Coronavirus Public Safety and Economic Recovery Act would create a commission to develop guidelines related to COVID-19 health practices, make recommendations to states to improve COVID-19 health practices, develop a program to educate state and local governments and businesses, and create a liability shield for businesses that adhere to the guidelines and recommendations provided by the commission.
