FreedomWorks Issues a Key Vote “NO” to Speaker Boehner’s Plan B

Washington, DC- FreedomWorks issued a Key Vote today urging members of Congress to vote “NO” on Speaker of the House John Boehner’s fiscal cliff “Plan B.” The plan offers a permanent extension of current income-tax rates for all except those earning $1 million a year.

FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe commented, “Once again, the Republican establishment is negotiating with itself. The $16 trillion monstrosity that is our current national debt is a product of spending too much, not taxing too little. Until a plan is put on the table that commits Congress to at least finding the promised $1.2 trillion in sequester savings, anything else can be considered ‘Plan J,’ for joke.”

FreedomWorks maintains its original position that Congress should deliver on its promised $1.2 trillion in ten-year sequester savings, extend all current tax rates for one year and head into 2013 with a serious approach to reform taxes and entitlements.

“We will be engaging our community of grassroots activists nationwide to drive hundreds of phone calls and emails to their Member’s offices in the hours leading up to the vote, urging their Representatives to take a more principled stand on the fiscal cliff negotiations,” added Kibbe. “The deal-makers on Capitol Hill have ‘negotiated’ themselves up to $16 trillion in debt. It’s time to say ‘enough is enough.’”

FreedomWorks is a service center to a community of over 2 million grassroots activists dedicated to advancing the ideas of individual freedom and constitutionally limited government.
