While the federal government and many states are looking for ways to get more money out of businesses and citizens for their big government bailout plans, the legislative entrepreneurs who are championing these pro-growth tax cuts are on the right path to real, long term recovery for Georgia.  Relieving this tax burden will pave the way for job creation and help make Georgia a destination state for companies looking to relocate.

Take Action and tell your elected officials to support this important plan.

These tax breaks are aimed at giving Georgia businesses incentives to hire many of the over 400,000 unemployed around the state.  The package includes a $2,400 income tax credit for each unemployed person that businesses hire before July 1, 2010 and keep on the job for at least 24 months.  And employers get a $500 credit toward their unemployment insurance taxes for each unemployed person they hire.  The state would also reduce and eventually eliminate its 6 percent corporate income tax beginning in 2012.  At a time when every dollar counts, this could save Georgia businesses more than $1 billion!

Tell your leaders that instead of spending your money on make-work government jobs and special interest handouts, this tax-break package lets the private sector put Georgia back to work and gets the government out of the way.  Companies are facing many problems right now, government and taxes shouldn’t add to them.
