Congress Must Act on Regulatory Reform

Following the introduction of Speaker Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) regulatory reform agenda, FreedomWorks CEO Adam Brandon commented:

“The regulatory state is strangling American businesses and consumers with red tape. According to the great research from the Competitive Enterprise Institute, the tab for this bureaucracy, which amounts to a hidden tax, nearly $1.9 trillion – almost $15,000 per household. Congress has a responsibility to rein in the executive branch and its powerful regulatory agencies and begin to reclaim its constitutional role. Speaker Ryan’s regulatory reform agenda would begin to restore the separation of powers and get the government off the backs of businesses and consumers.”

“This agenda, though, needs to be more than just an abstract proposal. It’s imperative that the House and Senate act on it this year. The grassroots community must see that Republicans in Congress are actually serious about getting something big done this year, rather than waiting for the clock to run out. We look forward to seeing these reforms come to the floor for a vote and will mobilize our community to support them.”
