FreedomWorks President Adam Brandon Signs Letter with Conservative Leaders Supporting Senator Mike Lee as a Nominee for Supreme Court Justice

WASHINGTON, DC – FreedomWorks President, Adam Brandon, along with numerous conservative leaders, signed a letter announcing their support for Sen. Mike Lee (R – Utah) as a nominee for Supreme Court Justice. Sen. Lee is a principled conservative who is committed to preserving the Constitution.

"Conservative Leaders Support of Senator Mike Lee as a Nominee for Supreme Court Justice

‘With the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to replace the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia last year, President Donald Trump hit a home run. Now, with the retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy, the president has a chance to go two for two, and put his stamp on the high court for a generation.

‘In one sense, we already know who President Trump will pick for this slot: a brilliant, principled jurist of honesty and integrity, committed to the written language of the law and the Constitution. The president’s list of 25 possible Supreme Court candidates is full of such people, and we once again commend him for it.

‘But even within that list, one name stands out, not just for his mind and his heart, but his spine: Senator Mike Lee of Utah. Sen. Lee has a proven record of standing up for principle, for doing the right thing for the right reasons, even in the face of withering criticism.

‘And that’s what this nominee is in for. Replacing Justice Kennedy is going to be the roughest fight Washington has seen in decades. Then, in coming years, the decisions a new conservative majority on the Court would have to make will invite the scorn of the media, academia, and elites from Hollywood to Wall Street to Washington itself. This is not an assignment for the faint of heart.

‘We need a Supreme Court justice who is not only wise and principled, but brave. Mike Lee is one candidate on the president’s list who has proven to be all three.”
