FreedomWorks Praises Proposed EPA and DOT Fuel Economy Standards for Model Years 2021-2026 Vehicles

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In light of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Transportation’s (DOT) proposed fuel economy standards, the Safer Affordable Fuel-Efficient (SAFE) Vehicles Rule for MY 2021-2026 Passenger Cars and Light Trucks, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“We are thrilled to see the EPA following through on its promises to correct the fuel economy standards hastily and inappropriately put in place by the Obama administration. The existing standards mandate production of costly vehicles that consumers cannot purchase, which benefits nobody.”

“By taking a careful and evidence-based look at environmental and safety factors, the newly released proposal appropriately balances affordability and practicality that responds in kind to market demands. This is good for consumers, for the economy, and for the environment alike.”
