FreedomWorks Praises Senate Action Amid House Democrat Inaction

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the Senate’s decision to return to Washington this week and conduct business, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks’ President, commented:

“The Senate is back in session, conducting business as best as it can, given the challenging and unique circumstances that we face. Senators are being encouraged to maintain social distancing and wear facemasks, while the people’s access to their Senate is being restricted. These temporary measures are absolutely necessary to ensure the health of the senators and their staff as they continue to work diligently in response to our current crisis and to confirm key nominations made by President Trump.

“On the other hand, the House — led by Speaker Pelosi — is missing in action. Of course, precautions should be taken to ensure the health and safety of members. However, the decision to extend the House recess was misguided at a time when our country needs strong leadership as states begin to reopen their economies. Showing strong leadership doesn’t mean more spending, but it does mean providing a reasonable path forward for America as it seeks to pick up the pieces after COVID-19. For once, House Democrats should lead by example.”
