FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Policing EO

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to President Trump’s executive order (EO) today regarding policing, Jason Pye, FreedomWorks’ Vice President of Legislative Affairs, commented:

"The executive order on policing is certainly a step in the right direction. We strongly endorse information sharing about police officers who have excessive force infractions, as well as the involvement of social workers in training and practice. We’re watching the discussions in Congress on policing with interest. We believe a focus on de-escalation training and community relations grants to law enforcement is necessary. However, it is Congress who in reality should be the arbiter of tougher conversations around qualified immunity and no-knock warrants. We encourage those conversations to continue."
