FreedomWorks Statement in Response to President Biden’s Executive Orders on Climate Change

WASHINGTON, D.C.– In response to President Biden’s executive orders on climate change, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“On the campaign trail, Joe Biden said that legislating by executive order is something that only a ‘dictator’ would do. But in his first week, Biden took a record 37 executive actions with more to come. Clearly, Biden cannot be trusted to keep a promise–except, perhaps, when that promise is to destroy American energy independence by expanding the size and scope of government, manipulating the job market, and spending trillions of dollars that we don’t have.

“Not only have command and control policies proven to be inefficient at lowering emissions, they are proven to take a toll on the economy and job market. In fact, U.S. carbon dioxide emissions decreased significantly due to the fracking boom– an industry that Joe Biden now wants dead. The last thing our recovering economy needs is higher government-mandated emission standards created by politicians who are far removed from the lives of working Americans.

“Beholden to the whims of radical environmentalists and cronyism, the sweeping actions to combat climate change taken by Biden today should serve as a bleak reminder of how powerful the federal government has become, as well as a preview of what’s in store for the next four years.”
