FreedomWorks Foundation Submits Formal Comments Opposing EPA’s Proposal to Redefine Waters of the United States

WASHINGTON, D.C. — FreedomWorks Foundation submitted comments opposing the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposal to repeal the 2020 Revised Definition of Waters of the United States (WOTUS) and return to the regulatory overreach of the Obama Administration.

Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“This proposal represents another move by the Biden administration to reverse the deregulatory, pro-growth policies of the Trump administration. While the Clean Water Act, as implemented by this WOTUS rule, has the laudable purpose of protecting America’s waterways from pollution and ecological destruction, the Obama-era rule overreached and placed virtually all water, no matter how small its size or its impact on commerce, under the EPA’s authority. This bureaucratic overreach trampled on the private property rights of millions of Americans.

“The EPA can protect our nation’s waterways without resorting to indecipherable rules that make scofflaws of citizens doing their best to adhere to the law.”
