FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Leader Schumer’s Partisan Undermining of Senate Norms

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-N.Y.) recent letter threatening unprecedented changes to Senate rules as a means to advance Democrats’ radical, partisan agenda to weaken election integrity, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“Democrats like Leader Schumer exist in a warped reality in which Americans are continually denied their right to vote at the polls. This could not be further from the truth. To tie Democrats’ partisan agenda to the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King is irresponsible and cheapens his legacy.

“This is Democrats’ latest attempt to fundamentally transform the norms of our government institutions before this fall’s midterms. Leader Schumer would do well to realize the lessons of his predecessors that changing Senate rules to advance a partisan agenda will only come back to haunt his party when Republicans inevitably retake control of not only the Senate, but the House as well.”
