During his initial pitch for health care reform, President Obama promised Americans they could keep their health care plan, that they could keep their doctor.
States that helped carry President Obama to victory in 2012, are now suffering at the hands of his signature legislation. Democrats hoping to avoid the repercussions of Obamacare are going to have a difficult time explaining away its failures in their own friendly states. Republicans are referring to it as the Blue State Obamacare Blues, with Colorado, Hawaii, Washington D.C., Oregon, Maryland, and Massachusetts all suffering varying degrees of embarrassment.
Last week, Texas Governor Rick Perry challenged New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to a friendly debate over economic policies. Perry issued the challenge during a trip to the Empire state in which he was to meet business owners, trying to convince them to move their operations to Texas. Cuomo, when given a chance to defend against Perry's statements that business men and women in New York are "taxed too much" and that "the regulatory climate is too onerous," declined. Cuomo simply stated, "I don't think so."
A union, which hails itself as having a "diverse membership," slammed the President's health care reform measures in a newly released research document stating that ObamaCare will hasten the divide between the wealthy and the middle class. The document is titled, The Irony of ObamaCare: Making Inequality Worse.
A headline at Organizing For Action proclaims - By 2014, The Health Care Law Will Help Nearly All Uninsured Americans Get Coverage. During remarks in the Rose Garden last year, President Obama lauded a study that indicated "through new options created by the Affordable Care Act, nearly 6 in 10 uninsured Americans will find that they can get covered." So it stands to reason that tracking the uninsured who have been helped by ObamaCare would be an important task, especially for Democrats who supported the legislation.
Earlier this week, President Obama released a budget plan that has to have most Americans wondering if they've found themselves in the middle of a Bill Murray Groundhog Day scenario. The budget offers little in the way of new ideas, simply a repeat of the President's failed policies of the past.
Despite the persistent objections of parents and the lack of medical evidence that there is any value to their efforts, public schools are still sending children home with fat-shaming letters for their parents. One school in upstate New York is continuing the controversial practice - even letting fellow classmates deliver the letters to their mortified peers.
Are journalists now working at the behest of the Obama administration when it comes to reporting on health care coverage? According to a recent report by Politico, the White House is seeking to stem the tide of disastrous Obamacare reports, instead 'looking to spread some good news.' And what better way to accomplish this than through an ever-obedient ally in the media? Here is the opening excerpt:
Late last week, the Obama administration announced a month-long push back for second-year Obamacare enrollments, placing the enrollment date conveniently past election day. With that move, the administration will successfully push back the horrifying optics of disastrous rate hikes, lending a hand to Democrats up for election in 2014.
