The Weekly Fix: The Left Loves Investigations… Just Not Against Them

The fix is in. While progressives consume themselves with the theory that Trump Administration officials may have interfered with the Russia investigation, there is hard evidence that the Obama Justice Department actively tried to obstruct justice. Funny, it doesn’t seem to be generating the same amount of media buzz.

According to The Washington Times:

Tucked inside the inspector general’s report on former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was the story of an August 2016 phone call from a high-ranking Justice Department official who Mr. McCabe thought was trying to shut down the FBI’s probe into the Clinton Foundation at a time when Hillary Clinton was running for president.

The official was “very pissed off” at the FBI, the report says, and demanded to know why the FBI was still pursuing the Clinton Foundation when the Justice Department considered the case dormant.

The caller is believed to be Matthew Axelrod, then-principal associate deputy attorney general. It is unknown if his boss, then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, knew about the call.

Former FBI officials weighed in on the story, calling the phone call “bizarre” and suggesting it was an attempt to interfere with the investigation.

One former employee who conducted corruption investigations for more than 35 years in the FBI said: “It is bizarre – and that word can’t be used enough – to have the Justice Department call the FBI’s deputy director and try to influence the outcome of an active corruption investigation.”

Clearly, the Obama administration was concerned about the optics of a Clinton investigation so close to Election Day. This Justice Department official was trying to leverage his political influence to intimidate the FBI into closing the case.

Now that Democrats have hard evidence of actual collusion to influence the outcome of a presidential election, will they address it with the same level of righteous indignation?

Probably not. When it comes to Democrat political strategy, they believe the ends always justify the means.

It’s time to take a stand. The American people aren’t being heard by their representatives because the game is rigged. Government isn’t broken. It’s “fixed.”
