Passing the USA Freedom Act: Everybody Wins

Last week, Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) re-introduced a bill to protect Americans from unauthorized government spying, the USA Freedom Act (S. 2685). Keep the IRS’ Hands off our Data

In the storm of justifiable outrage over the IRS’ targeting of conservatives, the willful obstruction of Lois Lerner, the incompetence/dishonesty of lost emails, and the IRS’ multiple attempts to pass a regulation that would severely limit the ability of non-profits to engage in political speech, it’s easy to forget that this is the same agency that has been tasked with the enforcement of ObamaCare and the tools it has been given to accomplish this insidious mission.

FreedomWorks for America Activists Sign-Blitz for Justin Amash

BY John McAvoy

Rep Amash is one of the core conservatives in Washington DC. When we heard that Freedom Works for America was supporting Congressman Justin Amash in his primary, we felt it our duty to help him in any way we could. On Saturday, a group of Northwest Ohio Conservatives lent a hand to Justin Amash by working in his district, talking to people and putting up 500 yard signs to prepare for the August 5th primary.

The Ex-Im Bank and Other Screwy New Deal Programs

The Export-Import Bank was established in 1934 by FDR as part of the New Deal. It has outlived its welcome by 80 years. Here are a few other programs from the New Deal that, unlike Ex-Im, mercifully met their end decades ago.

Obama Worries about Votes Not Economy or Allies

**Democracy and Power 107: Counting Votes ** Successful politicians are insecure and intimidated men. They advance politically only as they placate, appease, bribe, seduce, bamboozle or otherwise manage to manipulate the demanding and threatening elements in their constituencies. —Walter Lippmann (1889-1974), American Journalist and Author

The Long Arm of the Law: Government Demands Access to Microsoft’s Servers in Ireland

In a troubling expansion of government snooping, a New York judge ruled Thursday that Microsoft has to open its servers to federal investigators. What’s concerning in this case is that the servers in question are not on U.S. soil—they are located in Ireland. In pursuit of information from Microsoft, the federal government pulled Microsoft into court to argue over the government's power to act through a warrant to access information stored on the company’s overseas servers.
