While some say the purpose of a political party is simply to win elections, I describe it differently. The purpose of a political party is to get out the vote for a platform. For most people, the most effective way to achieve getting out the vote is to volunteer in their own neighborhood with a political party, promoting a platform they support. With deadlines for all-important primaries coming up soon, there's no time to start like the present.

Department of Homeland Security Visited FreedomWorks.org 1560 Times Over Two-Year Span

Washington, DC- Over the last two years, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has visited the FreedomWorks website over 1,560 times, an average of over 2 visits per day. In comparison, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) gave the site just under 250 visits over the same length of time, along with 812 visits traced back to the Social Security Administration, 769 from the Department of Justice, and 235 visits from the executive office of the White House with an average duration of about 20 minutes.

Losing Literacy

Until WWII, American children learned to read by utilizing phonics. Words were not learned by memorization but rather, children learned that each letter had a corresponding sound. When put together with other sounds, a word was made. This method had proved to be extraordinarily successful since America’s founding and two centuries beyond. It was this method that allowed Benjamin Franklin to be a proficient reader before ever stepping foot into a classroom.
