FreedomWorks North Carolina Defends Property Rights

North Carolina Freedom Works activists traveled to the North Carolina General Assembly to support House Bill 236. House Bill 236 “Federal Jurisdiction”, A MAJOR PROPERTY RIGHTS ISSUE, amends NC General Statute 104.7 to allow North Carolina to have a seat at the negotiating table in regards to what is right for our state. H236 is “A bill to be entitled an act to limit the automatic grant of exclusive jurisdiction over property acquired by the federal government.” As the trend once was to grant federal exclusive jurisdiction, the trend now is to regain some of the control which was once given away.

The proposal’s genesis is the US Navy’s proposed outlying landing field (OLF) in Eastern North Carolina. While the passage of H236 Federal Jurisdiction may come too late to impact the currently proposed OLF, it could dramatically reduce such egregious property rights infringements in our state’s future.
