Laurinburg, NC – In conjunction with Concerned Citizens of Scotland County, North Carolina Citizens for a Sound Economy (CSE) held an open forum with Representative Robin Hayes to discuss local economic issues. by Representative Howard Coble

Guilford County, NC – Representatives Robin Hayes and Howard Coble spoke with CSE members in Greensboro about issues facing North Carolina and the nation, including Homeland Security and international trade. Another topic of discussion was an issue before the North Carolina General Assembly, the creation of a statewide lottery system.

With a looming state budget deficit, the General Assembly has not only decided to pass new tax burdens onto North Carolina’s families, but it’s also discussing a plan to implement a lottery system to address its revenue shortfall. Instead of curbing the state government’s spending habits and eliminating waste, some legislators have decided that a lottery system run by the state is a credible way to take more money from North Carolinians.

Mayor Peterson congratulated CSE members for their work against forced annexation. “Thanks for your hard work on the annexation issue. CSE made the difference.”

Wake County: Three County Commissioners Attend a NC CSE Club Meeting to Discuss Taxes

Raleigh, NC – Wake County citizens know that CSE is constantly watching out for their hard earned money. From the day NC CSE opened its office doors, we’ve been fighting against increases at all levels and for tax cuts. We’re here, on the ground, mobilizing and fighting for lower taxes, less government, and more freedom.

Our NC CSE Wake County members invited three of their county commissioners to discuss tax issues. County Commissioners Kenn Gardner, Michael Weeks, and Herb Council joined CSE club members to discuss local and state taxes and the need for more accountability with taxpayers’ dollars.

What makes all these events important and significant is that they demonstrate that there is a growing chorus of dedicated citizen activists who want lower taxes, less government, and more freedom. Furthermore, these events were arranged and coordinated by our activists. Government really does go to those that show up!
