Will TEXAS Legislators STAND UP FOR ETHICS?

Wallace Hall, a University of Texas Regent, discovered what he believed to be malfeasance at best, and outright cronyism and corruption at worst, involving both the President of UT, and some in the Texas Legislature, who were using their position of power to assist under qualified students gain entrance into the University of Texas Law School, one of the nation’s most prestigious law schools. He did what we all expect someone of character to do, and instead of looking the other way, he pursued it to find out the truth. When Mr. Hall began to ask tough questions, the full force of political power came crashing down on his head in an attempt to intimidate him into staying quiet, and eventually in an attempt to make him go away.

The questions are these:
1) WHO wanted to keep the information from coming to light?
2) WHY were they willing to go to such great lengths to assassinate the character of a member of the Board of Regents to keep him quiet?
3) WHAT information were they trying to suppress?

Defiantly, Wallace Hall refused to walk away from what he believed to be very serious, potential wrongdoing, and the House Select Committee on Transparency, all appointed by Speaker of the House Joe Straus, while citing no real evidence, voted almost unanimously (7 to 1) to impeach him. Since this time, this same committee approved a Motion to Admonish and Censure Wallace Hall.

As a result of Wallace Hall taking a STAND as a courageous whistleblower, UT President Bill Powers has resigned, effective in 2015, and there is now an investigation into the entire matter. This story is FAR FROM OVER!

Stand Up For Ethics is an initiative of Citizens for Ethical Leadership to expose the ongoing Wallace Hall – UT Law scandal involving our Texas Legislature and the Administration of the University of Texas.

We seek to get Texas State House and Senate Representatives (and nominees of the Democrat and Republican parties running in November for contested seats) to:

Pledge / Statement of Agreement

  • Texas State House and Senate Representatives to STAND UP FOR ETHICS, Accountability, Transparency, and Fair Admissions Practices at UT Law School.
  • A Complete, Open and Outside Investigation into the Admissions Practices of UT Law School
  • Have those with ties to proven corruption punished to the fullest extent of the law.
  • Texas State House and Senate Representatives to STAND UP AGAINST the Impeachment of Texas Board of Regents whistle-blower Wallace Hall and stand AGAINST Cronyism, Favoritism, and Back room Deals.

Citizens for Ethical Leadership was created by grassroots activists for two main purposes:

1) To shine the light on corruption, cronyism, back room deals, misuse and abuse of the public trust and taxpayer funds, and elected officials who violate the oath they took to follow the Constitution. When and where this light finds unethical behavior, from the local level all the way to the Capitol in Austin, it is our duty and mission to communicate this to the public so We The People can have our voices heard.

2) To tirelessly work among the grassroots of Texas to help find, recruit, support and elect men and women of honor and integrity, and of the highest ETHICS, who are not self appointed leaders, but who will actually LEAD, and do so as true public servants. The Republic of Texas is a sacred place and Texans deserve men and women who will fulfill their campaign promises and while in office hold dear the enormous trust and responsibility the people have consented upon them

We MUST hold our elected official accountable for ethics, transparency, and accountability, and never forget that they WORK FOR US! This project is designed to empower the citizens of Texas to demand that their Representatives STAND UP FOR ETHICS. Only a consistent and tireless effort on the part of constitutents will allow us to elect people of true character, regardless of political party, to lead the way as Texas leads the nation.
