Governor Brewer About to Force Obamacare on Arizona

Once feted by grassroots conservatives nationwide, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer moved radically to the left in 2013. In her State of the State address, she surprised many by embracing Obamacare, calling for a massive expansion of Medicaid.

How School Choice Helps Traditional Public Schools

Kids are weird — especially mine. Sure, I can identify personality traits as coming from me and my wife, but they’re jumbled up in odd ways. If we’re the original track, our kids are the dance remixes. My eldest daughter is analytical and conscientious when work needs to be done, but fearless and funny in her off time. Her younger sister will procrastinate and goof off, but will create elaborate, amazing projects just for fun. Definitely related, but wildly different.

A New Hope for Arizona Kids

Kasey Locke is a bright, beautiful six-year-old girl. But she faces challenges most kids never will. At age three, Kasey was diagnosed with autism. When she started kindergarten at her Phoenix, Ariz., public school, Kasey’s parents worked with school officials to incorporate a new learning method that worked well for her. When the school didn’t apply these methods, her parents continued to tutor her after school.

Arizona "Secret Ballot Amendment" Upheld

Workers in Arizona are more free today after a judge upheld the Arizona anti-card check law. The “Secret Ballot Amendment” was adopted by Arizona in 2010 and gave workers the chance to vote on unionization through a private ballot. The alternative is to have workers sign a card in public. With a public vote, the chance of intimidation and coercion by unions is much greater.

Arizonans Can Take Preemptive Action Against ObamaCare

I know you’ve heard about the battle that’s raging at the federal level over President Obama’s proposed hostile takeover of America’s health care system.  As one of the hundreds of thousands of FreedomWorks volunteers that make-up our standing grassroots army, you have no doubt seen and hopefully participated in our “calls to action” against Obama-care that have hit targeted Members of Congress with a flood of emails, phone calls, and even face-to-face visits urging them to oppose this socialized medicine scheme. But as an Arizonan, I wanted to make sure you knew about an important opportunity to beat back not only today’s government-run health care threat, but any future attempts as well.A state constitutional amendment called the “Health Care Freedom Act” has been referred to the ballot in Arizona and, if it passes it will guarantee that residents of the state will be able to keep their current health plan and doctor – a right that government-run health care takes away.  It will also prevent big-government proponents from passing an individual mandate that forces people to buy insurance regardless of whether they need it or want it.As an Arizona voter, you can vote for the Health Care Freedom Act in November 2010 and deliver a serious blow to Obama, Reid, Pelosi, and others who want to transform America’s health care system into something resembling what is in Canada or Cuba where the government puts a bureaucrat between you and your doctor.2010 may seem like a long way off, but I assure there’s not a moment to lose in organizing against the forces of the liberal Left who will be working hard to advance the government takeover of health care.  That is why I also encourage you to get involved now with the group that’s actively working in Arizona to pass the Health Care Freedom Act, Arizonans for HealthCare Freedom.  Their website has up-to-date information on this critical ballot fight and opportunities for you to get involved and help ensure its success.  Go to www.azhealthcarefreedomact.com and fight for your health care freedom!

Help Stop $1 Billion Tax Hike in Arizona

Governor Jan Brewer addressed the 49th Arizona legislature in a joint session yesterday, proposing a five-part plan to help the state recover from a projected budget shortfall of $3 billion. Though she urged approximately $1 billion in budget cuts, the governor simultaneously called for a $1 billion tax increase, without specifying which tax she planned to hike or the duration.  This plan must be stopped.Take Action and tell your elected officials you oppose these tax hikes.  Please follow-up your message with a phone call to Governor Brewer at (602) 542-4331.Arizona’s economy is already struggling.  The last thing the state needs is increased taxes. Long term prosperity follows permanent tax cuts, reducing regulations that stifle business, and supporting growth in the private sector. People are the driving force of economic expansion and money is best left in their hands. Contact your elected officials and urge them to cut spending without increasing taxes. Governor Brewer should cut the waste and use taxpayer dollars more responsibly.  Families around the state are doing more with less and there’s no reason the state can’t stick to a budget as well. Also, make sure you check out IamWith Rick.com.  Many of you have seen the Taxpayer Tea Parties spreading around the country and you will be excited to learn that we are planning Taxpayer Tea Parties in Arizona! This is because of the overwhelming interest in joining our effort to fight wasteful government spending and the massive bailouts. You can rsvp by visiting IamWithRick.com and signing up to attend the tea party closest to you.As CNBC's Rick Santelli pointed out, it's time for the American people to defend free markets and take to the streets in protest! These are two great ways to fight the tax and spend plans that affect us all. Tell your state leaders Arizona can’t afford a $1 billion tax hike and join us at a tea party.Thank you for your ongoing support of FreedomWorks and our fight for lower taxes, less government, and more freedom.
