Victory for Workplace Freedom in Alabama

On election day, voters in Alabama took an important stand for workplace freedom by passing Amendment 4.  The bill, sponsored by Rep. Kurt Wallace (R- Maplesville) is an attempt to prevent unions from organizing without a majority of signatures from workplace employees.

Card Check on the Ballot in Alabama

Card check is on the ballot this November in Alabama, and it’s putting voters in the middle of an argument between labor unions and management. Identical measures have been passed in Arizona, South Dakota, and Utah, and a similar measure was also passed in South Carolina. This proposed amendment would make secret ballots part of Alabama’s constitution. These workplace elections would be federally monitored for integrity to prevent any tampering by the workplace or the unions.

Issue Analysis

Chicago Organizers and the Reelection Machine

Chicago Teachers Union got the strike desired by a core group of activists, but the strike is not about the issues on the table. The strike is about who is in charge: union bosses, or the taxpayers.

Arizona "Secret Ballot Amendment" Upheld

Workers in Arizona are more free today after a judge upheld the Arizona anti-card check law. The “Secret Ballot Amendment” was adopted by Arizona in 2010 and gave workers the chance to vote on unionization through a private ballot. The alternative is to have workers sign a card in public. With a public vote, the chance of intimidation and coercion by unions is much greater.

Lame Duck Agenda Grows

The lame duck agenda that Democratic leadership poopooed for months is growing.  Remember back in July when the left swore there was "no secret plan!"?  This scoffing was followed closely by saying a lame duck session was "pretty preposterous and straight out of the black-helicopter wing of GOP thinking."

Sign the Petition: No Lame Duck!

Rumors are swirling in Washington, D.C. about a potential "Lame Duck" session that could be held right after the November elections and before the new Congress is sworn-in. If liberals are thrown out of power in Congress this election cycle, the pressure will be that much greater and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi will pull out all the stops as a last gasp to enact their socialist agenda. Specifically, the far left will be doing whatever they can to: 1. Pass the Cap and Trade Energy Tax Hike! 2. Slap American Taxpayers with another "Stimulus" Bailout Scheme!

Card Check: "I'm not dead yet"

At least according to AFL-CIO President Richard Tumka, who is predicting card check will pass this year.  Trumka said that lawmakers would pass the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) as well as healthcare reform this year, despite Republicans having picked up enough votes in the Senate to sustain a filibuster. "I think we'll get health care done and I think we'll get labor law reform done before the year's up," Trumka said during an appearance on CNN.

The View From NY 23

It's only 6:30 am, but already folks are outside the hotel waving signs and encouraging honks from cars for their favorite candidates.  In about twenty minutes, we'll be joining them in the rain to hand out voter ed pieces at nearby polling places.Yesterday, FreedomWorks got the candidate side-by-side in the hands of several hundred voters as we pounded the pavement of Watertown on what turned out to be a beautiful, if fleeting, sunny day.  The side-by-side highlights the differences in where the now two congressional candidates stand on essential economic issues like cap
