Obama's Failed "Tax Hike on the Debt Hike" Gambit

It appears President Obama's strategy in the debt ceiling talks has been to do 4 things: Increase Uncle Sam's credit limit by enough to get past reelection. Pose as a fiscal centrist.  Neuter the GOP on taxes.  Thwart real entitlement reforms.  Until two days ago, his strategy was working.

No Debt Ceiling Hike without Cut, Cap and Balance

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner warns that America is just 40 days away from Armageddon. Don’t let the scare tactics fool you. Even if the debt ceiling is not raised, the U.S. will not necessarily default on its debt on August 2. It’s difficult to understand how anyone would still see Geithner as an authority on the economy due to his previous gaffes on everything from the “stimulus” to the Dodd-Frank financial overhaul law.

Democracy and Power 104: Future Debt Burden A government debt is a government claim against personal income and private property – an unpaid tax bill. – Hans F. Sennholz Federal politicians – Democrats and Republicans – have willfully and recklessly created an enormous and dangerous debt.  Politicians cannot be trusted to be prudent and honest stewards of America’s finances.

The Madness of Ben Bernanke

Albert Einstein once said “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”  If one is to use this definition of insanity, he or she must come to the conclusion that Ben Bernanke is insane.  On Tuesday, Bernanke warned that if Congress

Drowning in a Sea of Red Ink

A battle royal is brewing between the Republican-controlled House of Representatives and the Obama administration over increasing the debt ceiling.  The House recently rejected a “clean” bill to raise the debt ceiling that did not include any spending reforms.  With the economy lagging and voters rejecting the notion of spending our way to prosperity, the debate over spending is now front and center on the domestic policy agenda. Unfortunately, Democrats have failed to address the issue.

Democrats Plan To Have No Plan

If we do not act now, the failure of leadership by President Obama and Democrats in Congress will lead our Medicare system to certain bankruptcy. We can save Medicare for current seniors and make sure it's around for our children and grandchildren by supporting Representative Paul Ryan's plan.In his "Path to Prosperity," Rep. Ryan has laid out a plan to save Medicare by creating a patient-centered system for seniors that gives them more choices for their health care while reining in exploding costs.
