Americans Understand ObamaCare Is a Bad Deal

“If your policy is so good, why does it have to be mandatory?” This is the eminently sensible question posed by people who question the need for government to dictate our purchases. Although often asked, it seldom receives an answer. When it does, it usually amounts to some slightly more diplomatic variation on “people are too stupid to make their own decisions.” Oh, what benevolent masters we have. ObamaCare is only the most recent example in a long line of mandatory programs that are supposedly “for our own good,” but it’s a big one and provides a good example of the futility of trying to force people to act against their own best interests.

As ObamaCare Crumbles, Colorado Moves towards Single-Payer

Following the collapse of Colorado’s health care co-op, created under the Affordable Care Act, and a period of deep uncertainty for the insurance exchange established under the same law, the state appears to be throwing in the towel on the president’s signature legislative achievement. Unfortunately, however, the Centennial State is not interested in implementing free market reforms, but will instead vote on a ballot measure to establish a single-payer health care system within its borders. Coloradans collected more than 150,000 signatures to put the idea—going under the name of ColoradoCare—on the November, 2016 ballots as “Initiative 20.” The proposal would be funded by a new 10 percent payroll tax.

ObamaCare Deductibles Keep on Soaring

Over the past year or so, I’ve expended considerable ink on the underreported problem of ObamaCare deductibles. What few people understand about insurance is that you don’t get a dime from the insurer until you pay the deductible amount out of pocket. Until then, you might as well not be covered. So, when people see low premiums and fancy coverage options, they could be getting sucked into what is actually a bad deal - a deductible they will never be able to reach.

Employers to Dump 90% of Health Care Plans: Thanks, ObamaCare!

There are many problems with the employer-provided health insurance model. It was first implemented as a way to get around FDR’s wage controls during the Great Depression, and by all rights should never have existed in the first place. Tying health insurance to employment. instead of a system that favors individual plans purchased by individuals. is awkward, inefficient, and in many cases unjust.

Nullifying the Law of the Land

“It’s the law of the land.” This has been the repeated refrain from defenders of ObamaCare against any effort to repeal, replace, or reform the disastrous policy that is causing millions of Americans to lose their existing health insurance and experience drastic, unexpected premium hikes.

ObamaCare's Grand Opening in Review

This past Tuesday was supposed to be the Grand Opening for ObamaCare's health insurance exchanges.  Their digital doors would be thrown open triumphantly, and countless thousands would stampede through the gates, racing to grab their shiny, new, government-approved health care like it was the newest iPhone.

Obamacare Will Harm Everyone. Do Not Fund It. Repeal It.

Many have said that once Obamacare gets rolling and the subsidies start flowing that repealing the law will be impossible. In fact, that's become conventional wisdom.
