Obama: Clueless and Wrong

President Obama granted an interview with CBS News in which he not only mischaracterized basic economic principles, but did so using his usual logical fallacies. After making these basic errors, he went on to question his opponent's ability even to think about the issues Mr. Obama had just shown himself unable to comprehend.

EPA Violating Private Property Rights

The Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) desire to regulate the American people seems to never end. In the name of ‘protecting the environment’, the EPA has crossed the line one to many times.

Too Big Not To Fail

Some pundits are saying that the big banks like JP Morgan and Bank of America are too big and need to be broken up, in sort of a preemptive antitrust enforcement. But it would be far better if we just let the free market work, as we should have been doing all along.

Earth Day Special: Private Property Protects the Environment

This Sunday marks the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day. Over the years, the day has become more focused on political activism and less on personal decisions that individuals can make to help the environment. Hundreds of thousands of self-identified environmentally-conscious people travel to Washington, DC to demand that the federal government act to “protect” the environment.

The Clean Water Act Violates Private Property Rights

Ducks Unlimited, a conservationist organization that seeks to preserve wetlands and protect waterfowl wildlife, has come out in favor of restoring the Clean Water Act protections of “isolated” wetlands. Reapplying Clean Water standards to these wetlands will help protect the indigenous waterfowl population, so they say. This will also benefit hunters who wish to preserve native duck populations on these wetlands. The organization’s website encourages anyone who cares about ducks and duck hunting to call their congressmen and express their concern for clean water and wetland protection.

Social Security Violates Younger Generations' Property Rights

For young people, Social Security is a misnomer. The generations that follow the Baby Boomers are anything but “secure” in the Social Security program. The premise of Social Security is that American citizens who pay taxes out of their paychecks into the program will get their money back at retirement. However, current retirees, who have not paid enough into the system for what they are collecting, are supported by younger generations.

Now He Must Govern

No real surprises occurred during the Chicago mayor’s race, but the election was a landmark in the sense that the city elected a candidate who was not named Daley. It is hard to see any other way that this election was transformative; conservatives had virtually no chance of electing a mayor in a city which has been ruled by a single party since the Great Depression.
