Issues: Environment
The Issue
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is charged with protecting human health and safeguarding the natural environment. The regulations they impose and the penalties they dispense are among the most restrictive in the world.
The FreedomWorks Position
One-size-fits-all regulations from Washington are not appropriate for addressing environmental challenges. FreedomWorks supports a free-market approach to environmental protection based on five principles:
- Prioritize challenges and set goals.
- Focus on making progress, not handing out punishments.
- Local problems should receive local solutions.
- A healthy environment can not exist without a healthy economy.
- Environmental laws must respect the rights of property owners.
