Nearly every Democratic presidential candidate on stage during the debates on Wednesday and Thursday evening would end private health insurance coverage in the United States. Only a few of them are honest about it.
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In response to the hearing today in the House Ways and Means Committee, “Pathways to Universal Health Coverage,” on single-payer health coverage, Jason Pye, FreedomWorks Vice President of Legislative Affairs, commented:
FreedomWorks’ activist-chosen dumpster fire of the month for May 2019 is the Medicare for All Act, S. 1129, sponsored by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). Not only would implementing “Medicare for All” add upwards of $32 trillion to our federal expenditures -- It would also result in, as our own Dan Savickas noted in FreedomWorks Foundation’s recently released booklet on entitlement reform, healthcare for none.
FreedomWorks is proud to announce that our bill of the month for February 2019 is the Responsible Path to Full ObamaCare Repeal Act, H.R. 83, sponsored by Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) and original cosponsors Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), and Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.). This bill would fully follow through on one of Republicans’ primary campaign promises since 2010: to repeal ObamaCare.
Sens. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) recently rolled out a proposal to create another new entitlement program, Medicare Part E. This plan would put the federal government in direct competition with private health insurance companies by creating the so-called “public option.”
