Repeal the Davis-Bacon Act

Many states have been discussing ways to pay for road funding. Now, there are two ways to make something affordable. One way is to increase revenue and the other way is to drive down costs. It has been suggested to take a look at replacing the gas tax to be able to afford road funding since the revenue brought in by the gas tax is on the decline while road coasts are increasing.

The Future of Right to Work

Three months ago, the New Hampshire House of Representatives voted against becoming the 29th “Right to Work” state, which would have made it the first “Right to Work” state in New England. Support the Davis-Bacon Repeal Act, S. 244 and H.R. 743

On behalf of FreedomWorks’ activist community, I urge you to contact your senators and representative and ask them to co-sponsor the Davis-Bacon Repeal Act, S. 244 and H.R. 743, introduced by Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa). The bill would repeal Davis-Bacon Act of 1931, which requires all construction projects funded by the federal government to pay workers the local prevailing wage.

House Judiciary Fights about IRS Commissioner John Koskinen

On June 22, the House Judiciary Committee brought in outside experts to examine the allegations of misconduct against IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. Conservatives point to overwhelming evidence that Koskinen lied before the House Judiciary Committee, obstructed the ability of Congress to uncover the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups, and is responsible for destruction of evidence.

Senators Demand Education Reform

Education is - both traditionally and constitutionally - a local issue. Yet for many years, the federal government through the Department of Education has been bullying states into taking certain actions. For example, the adoption of common standards and testing requirements, in exchange for grants or waivers. As long as these incentives are in place, it is very difficult for states to independently and meaningfully repeal Common Core, as we saw with Indiana’s faux-repeal that was actually just a rebranding of the standards.
