Help Pass Common Sense Tort Reform in Florida

This week, the Florida Senate will take a stand on frivolous lawsuits, when it votes on SB 2006. This common-sense tort reform would require a court to hold a person responsible only for the damage he actually causes.

[TAKE ACTION NOW]

SB 2006 does this by eliminating so-called “joint and several liability,” which forces a wealthy defendant to pay most of the damages of a lawsuit if other defendants can’t afford to pay their share.

Whether a person can pay for lawsuit damages has nothing to do with whether he should. This criterion for lawsuits is patently unfair, and encourages abusive trial lawyers to go after corporations, insurers and others that are said to have “deep pockets.” SB 2006 would help end this disturbing trend.

Please take action now and tell your legislators to take a stand against frivolous lawsuits by voting for SB 2006.
