“We have a rare opportunity in a divided government to end an entire corporate welfare program by merely doing nothing and letting its authorization expire,” commented Matt Kibbe, President of FreedomWorks. “In this instance, to advance good policy, Congress only needs to do what they do best- nothing.”
FreedomWorks issued an unprecedented Key Vote “NO” on Co-Sponsoring the Reauthorization of the Ex-Im Bank, H.R. 597.
“Ex-Im officials are under investigation for taking kickbacks, most of its funding goes to big corporations who don’t need the money, and it allows government to pick winners and losers in the marketplace on the taxpayer’s dime,” added Jackie Bodnar, Communications Director at FreedomWorks.
“If the government really wants to help U.S. manufacturers, they should eliminate the tax and regulatory burdens that companies face, not renew a corrupt and outdated bank.”
FreedomWorks aims to educate, build, and mobilize the largest network of activists advocating the principles of smaller government, lower taxes, free markets, personal liberty and the rule of law.
