Yesterday, Empower America Co-director, Jack Kemp testified before the House Committee of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law in support of H.R. 49, the Internet Tax Nondiscrimination Act of 2003, to permanently extend the current moratorium on Internet access taxes and multiple and discriminatory taxation on e-commerce.
Mr. Kemp said Congress should pass H.R. 49 and permanently extend the current Internet tax moratorium on access taxes and multiple and discriminatory taxation. Kemp urged Congress to focus on central issues: economic growth and the total tax burden faced by American taxpayers. He also cautioned Congress about falling into the pitfalls proffered by opponents of the legislation, specifically on issues of “fairness” and “plugging deficits.”
