Florida FreedomWorks Descends on Tallahassee

Florida FreedomWorks gathered in Tallahassee to advocate tax cuts, tort reform, school vouchers and a bill to require the teaching of US History and our founding documents.

Florida State Director John Hallman led a group of FreeomWorks activists from around the state to the capital in Tallahassee on March 15th and 16th. John Hallman and several groups of activists met with various legislators, including House Speaker Alan Bense and Governor Bush’s Policy Director Alan Philp. They discussed issues such as repealing the intangibles tax, reforming the civil justice system, school vouchers and a bill that would require the teaching of US History and our founding documents. John reported that most legislators supported these issues, especially in the House, but any resistance came from the Senate. The two days at the capital included strategy meetings both days and planning office visits with targeted legislators.

John Hallman commented “this was a very successful lobbying effort, but a lot of work will continue over the next several weeks of the session to convince the Senate side to support our Freedom Agenda”. FreedomWorks urges everybody to contact their legislators to tell them to support the 2005 FreedomWorks Agenda.
