FreedomWorks Statement in Response to 1.4 Percent Decline in Q1 GDP Growth

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In response to news that the US economy saw a 1.4 percent decline in Q1 2022 GDP growth, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“Shrinking GDP growth is a result of failed pandemic policies coming home to roost. Let’s be clear-- supply chain issues and inflation are the primary drivers of the decline in GDP growth we saw in Q1. Pandemic policies that included massive, trillion dollar spending packages and economic restrictions started the ball rolling.”

“Biden has only exacerbated both supply chain issues and inflation with his war on American energy and continued reckless spending. With stalled growth and high inflation, Biden is doing his best impression of Jimmy Carter. However, Americans will remind the Democrats this November that they don’t want to experience that act again.”
