WASHINGTON, D.C.-- In response to the House Oversight Commitee's recent request for Facebook to turn over copies of posts related to a page frequented by members of the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), Jason Pye, FreedomWorks Vice President of Legislative Affairs, commented:
"Chairman Cumming's letter brings a lot of concerns. Certainly, the reported behavior of individuals on this Facebook page is unbecoming, to say the least. Facebook has a responsibility to protect the privacy of its users, even when they may engage in questionable behavior. Chairman Cummings' request is incredibly broad and troubling from a privacy perspective, as well as sets a troubling precedent. We hope Facebook declines this request."
