The first year of Joe Biden’s presidency has so far been an unmitigated disaster for the American energy sector. Embracing Green New Deal-style environmental policies, President Biden’s approach to domestic energy production cripples hard-working Americans while, at the same time, increasing our reliance on foreign nations. It comes as no surprise that Biden’s misguided radicalism is now reaping severe consequences.
FreedomWorks is excited to announce that our bill of the month for June 2021 is the Pausing Unrelenting Markups on Petroleum (PUMP) Act, H.R. 3275. Introduced by Rep. Yvette Herrell (R-N.M.), the bill would temporarily suspend the collection of the 18.4 cents per gallon federal gas tax.
There's little question that the whole of America has suffered in the last four years at the hands of the President's one-track energy policies. While Mitt Romney has laid out a plan for American energy independence by the year 2020, the Obama energy policy seems to be shackled by tunnel vision, focused solely on the massive outpouring of taxpayer resources to unproven alternative energy companies.
Americans are feeling the pain at the gas pump. Gasoline prices have soared 42 cents a gallon since the beginning of the year. The nationwide average is now $3.74 a gallon, a 101 percent increase from January 2009. So who’s to blame?
NTU really hits the nail on the head with their new project: www.nonewenergytaxes.com.
That really sums up so much of the gas prices, cap-and-trade, regulations, and carbon arguments - whether it be fee levied on energy producers, unrealistic mandates like CAFE standards and biofuels, or subsidies dealt out to favored industries and technology - it all adds up to a big tax on our economy and higher prices for everything.
