FreedomWorks Michigan Hosts Policy Dinner, Launches State Lobbying Effort

It has been a busy couple of weeks for Michigan FreedomWorks! We spearheaded a “Tax Cuts Are Cool” day in the Michigan Legislature on Wednesday, December 14, 2005. Over 30 state legislators worked in committee hearings and gathered on the House Floor wearing their “Tax Cuts Are Cool” lapel stickers produced by FreedomWorks. Overall, over 150 stickers were seen in and around the Capitol during the day worn by legislators, staff, grassroots activists and general supporters of tax reform.

Meanwhile, this month in Livonia, Congressman Mike Rogers and Congressman Thaddeus McCotter treated more than 200 individuals in attendance to an evening of discussion and policy debate focusing on China and its role in the world economy. Michigan Speaker of the House Craig DeRoche hosted the event and also gave an update on the Michigan Legislature’s activities in the upcoming year and the agenda put forward by conservatives to move Michigan’s economy out of last place in the nation.

Several of Michigan’s House and Senate legislators were also in attendance including Sen. Valde Garcia, Sen. Laura Toy and Rep. John Stakoe and Rep. John Pastor. Also, in attendance were over 20 city and county officials in SE Michigan to enjoy the evenings address by the Congressmen.
