FreedomWorks Reprehends Biden’s Disastrous $2 Trillion “American Rescue Plan”

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the unveiling of the Biden administration’s “American Rescue Plan,” a nearly $2 trillion emergency legislative package to address COVID-19, Jason Pye, FreedomWorks Vice President of Legislative Affairs, commented:

“The recently announced ‘American Rescue Plan’ appears to be less about rescuing American families from their current economic problems and more about using the COVID-19 crisis as an excuse to ram through a laundry list of leftist policies. What we need to do is safely reopen the economy and get people back to work, not throw trillions of taxpayer dollars at new programs irresponsibly and ineffectively.

“Beyond the inclusion of increased, blanket direct payments, which we have opposed from the beginning, the ‘American Rescue Plan’ is jam-packed with leftist policies like a minimum wage hike, federal paid leave, and billions for other reckless giveaways and nationally-run programs. Ironically, these policies are likely to reduce access to jobs and slow the economic recovery that is needed to provide long-term relief for those who are struggling. Congress should be focusing economic relief where it is most needed, not using the pandemic as a reason to govern through crisis.”
