Dear FreedomWorks member,
As one of our million-plus FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your representatives and ask them to vote YES on Rep. McClintock’s (R-CA) amendment to H.R. 2354, the Energy and Water Appropriations Act of 2012. The amendment offered on behalf of the Republican Study Committee (RSC) would cut spending by an additional $3.04 billion or 9.93 percent from the base bill. It would eliminate numerous wasteful programs and needless energy subsidies.
The current bloated Energy and Water Appropriations Act of 2012 would provide a total of $30.6 billion to numerous agencies and programs. This is only $249 million below the FY 2008 level. With our national debt over $14.4 trillion, we must seek to cut at least $3.04 billion from the appropriation bill. Rep. McClintock’s amendment would specifically cut the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Subsidies, Advanced Research Projects Agency, Innovative Technology Loan Guarantee Program and many more.
We must cut wasteful spending whenever we find it. Rep. McClintock’s amendment to the Energy and Water Appropriations Act of 2012 is a step in the right direction to restore fiscal responsibility to Washington. This amendment is just one in the series of amendments that the RSC will be offering throughout the appropriations process to reduce federal spending.
I urge you to call your representatives and ask them to vote YES on Rep. McClintock’s amendment to H.R. 2354, the Energy and Water Appropriations Act of 2012. We will count their vote as a KEY VOTE when calculating the FreedomWorks Economic Freedom Scorecard for 2011. The Economic Freedom Scorecard is used to determine eligibility for the Jefferson Award, which recognizes members of Congress with voting records that support economic freedom.
