The Trump Administration Is Right Not to Spend More Money Advertising ObamaCare Plans

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced today that it planned to reduce the budget to promote health plans available on the ObamaCare exchanges from the roughly $100 million spent during the last open enrollment period to $10 million for the upcoming open enrollment period, which is set to begin on November 1 and end on December 15. There will also be a reduction in funding for Navigators, from $62.5 million last year to $36.8 million this year.

ObamaCare enrollments fall below 10 million, even further off 2014 projection

ObamaCare enrollments have fallen under 10 million, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, an agency under the Department of Health and Human Services that oversees much of the implementation of the 2010 heath insurance law. The new estimate is far below the Congressional Budget Office's 2014 projection.

ObamaCare's co-op programs aren't meeting enrollment goals, losing millions of dollars

When the so-called "public option" single-payer healthcare program was scrapped during the legislative "debate" over ObamaCare in 2009, lawmakers working on the bill created the Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan Program as a compromise. The non-profit co-op program is meant to compete with private, for-profit health insurance plans in the individual and small group markets. The 2010 healthcare law provided $3.4 billion in start-up funding to help get the program off the ground.

Obama administration cooked ObamaCare enrollment numbers by including 400,000 standalone dental plans

In September, the Obama administration boasted that some 7.3 million Americans had enrolled in ObamaCare health plans. Though down from the initial 8.1 million reported in May, due to attrition by consumers not making premium pay or data inconsistencies, the number still exceeded the Congressional Budget Office's 7 million estimate for the first open enrollment period for plans taking effect in 2014.
