Lessons from NY-26

Today in the metro I read a quote by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid about the election results in NY-26.  “Last night the people of New York’s 26th District resoundingly spoke.  My question to my Republican colleagues is very simple.  Will you listen to the American people?  Because their message could not be clearer.” Democrat Kathy Hochul won running on a campaign that Paul Ryan’s budget would end Medicare.  The story is significant only because it happened in what has typically been a solid republican district.  I’ll address the Medicar

States Seek to Nullify ObamaCare

Our Founding Fathers set out to create the freest nation known to man. These brave men rejected the tyrannical rule of King George III by signing the Declaration of Independence. The Founders later wrote the Bill of Rights which lists our natural rights in order to set limitations on the power of the federal government.

FreedomWorks Letter Supporting Five Bills to Eliminate Mandatory Spending in ObamaCare

Dear FreedomWorks member, As one of our one million-plus members who support free markets, I urge you to contact your representative and ask him or her to support several bills to amend ObamaCare. The new health care law provided billions of dollars in mandatory spending for numerous new programs. This funding procedure ultimately reduces congressional oversight by shifting power to the Executive Branch. All of the following five bills would increase congressional responsibility and oversight by converting ObamaCare’s mandatory spending to discretionary spending:

ObamaCare One Year Later: Majority of Americans Still Oppose Unconstitutional Law

Most of us are likely to remember where we were when a national tragedy happened. As for me, I’ll always remember where I was when I heard that ObamaCare had passed the House of Representatives and was headed for President Obama’s desk. On March 21, 2010, I was sitting in the back of a crammed pickup truck from Kentucky en route to my home state of Maryland. A group of us decided to drive over nine hours to spend our entire college spring break campaigning for a long-shot senate candidate by the name of Rand Paul.

Key Vote "YES" On H.R. 4 To Repeal The 1099 Reporting Requirements

Dear Representative, On behalf of over one million FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to vote YES on Rep. Lungren’s (R-Cali.) H.R. 4 the Small Business Paperwork Mandate Elimination Act of 2011 which would repeal 1099 reporting requirements. Due to a provision hidden in the 2,400 page health care law passed last March, businesses will be required to submit an IRS form 1099 for all goods and services purchased over $600 starting in 2012. This is a paperwork nightmare that will significantly hurt small businesses and cost an abundance of jobs.
