FreedomWorks reacts to devastating long-term budget outlook

Washington, D.C. – Weighing in on the Congressional Budget Office’s long-term projections, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks president, commented:

“If you are wondering why you feel a stiff breeze blowing through your hair, it’s because we are quickly heading off a fiscal cliff, according to the CBO’s long-term budget projections released today. The data could not be more clear. If we sit on our hands and do nothing to change course, we will face a sovereign debt crisis, higher interest rates, the crowding out of private investment, and fewer opportunities for Millennials, Generation Z, and Generation Alpha.”

“We need Members to begin looking for solutions to this fiscal time bomb. Everything else is a distraction until we modernize the trust fund programs that are driving deficits and debt. That’s why the Fiscal Commission Act is so important. We need Members – and we’re talking just as much to Republicans as we are to Democrats – to abandon the hyper-partisan performance art and begin to take their jobs seriously.”
