The current political climate in Washington coupled with the economic realities we are facing make staying on the sidelines in this debate irresponsible. The lion’s share of the problems we face that relate to immigration is a lack of enforcement of current law and gaps that exist because of congressional inaction. Our immigration system was designed in the 1960s and has been largely untouched since then. We must secure the border, tackle visa overstays, and implement a robust screening process.
